FLEX ACH Early Pay

FLEX Enhances ACH Early Pay Features to Allow Members to Request to Get Paid Two Days Early

July 12, 2023, Sandy, UT – FLEX, a leading provider of core system software for credit unions has enhanced an already useful feature to allow members to get their direct deposit up to two days early, based upon the receipt of the ACH deposit file. This recent enhancement will allow members to request their direct deposit early through the FLEX mobile app and desktop banking programs. Credit unions may also add limitations to the accessibility of this feature and set requirements such as account history, minimum balances, and optional fees.

When the credit union receives members’ direct deposit information from employers prior to payday, that money can be made available up to two days early. This feature will be an effective way to compete in the payday waiting game. Not all direct deposit payments will qualify for ACH Early Pay. The ability to take advantage of the program and the number of days that funds are available ahead of the normal posting date all depend on the company that is sending the deposit. Members will be able to request ‘Early Pay’ inside of desktop banking or the mobile app each time they would like to take advantage of an early ACH.

ACH Early Pay is a relatively new feature that more and more credit unions are now offering, giving members faster access to their paychecks. Members will typically have access to their funds two days sooner, which can be beneficial if their payday falls on a weekend. If members get paid twice a month, such as on the 15th and 30th, this service will allow them to start paying bills or making purchases by the 13th and 28th of each month.

If a member’s cash flow is tight, getting paid early could help them purchase essential items or avoid fees and penalties that could come with paying bills late, this enhanced service will help keep the members’ business at the credit union and away from high-interest rate competitors.
