FEND Off Fentanyl Act (S. 1271 Readiness)

FLEX is pleased to announce that we have completed all necessary programming updates to ensure your core system is fully compliant with the FEND Off Fentanyl Act, effective October 20, 2025. These enhancements have already been deployed to all FLEX environments.
About the FEND Off Fentanyl Act
The FEND Off Fentanyl Act (S. 1271) establishes new requirements for financial institutions to help combat the national emergency of fentanyl trafficking. This legislation enhances sanctions against transnational criminal organizations and foreign entities involved in the illicit opioid trade and requires stricter monitoring for money laundering activities associated with these networks.
How FLEX Supports Your Compliance
To support your credit union’s adherence to this Act, FLEX has updated the OFAC scanning logic. Names and entities designated under the FEND Off Fentanyl Act will automatically be included in your OFAC file during your regularly scheduled refresh.
This automation ensures that:
-
Your search results will immediately flag entities sanctioned under this new legislation.
-
Your institution remains aligned with federal compliance requirements regarding opioid-related money laundering.
-
No additional action is required on your part beyond maintaining your current OFAC file refresh schedule.
Our Commitment to You
We believe that staying ahead of regulatory changes shouldn’t come with a price tag. We are proud to include these regulatory compliance updates at no additional cost. This is part of our commitment to providing value and ensuring your credit union operates securely and efficiently.
