NSF History Deletion by Account
This document provides technical guidance for deleting Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) records within the FLEX system. The “NSF History Deletion by Account” functionality is crucial for credit union personnel to correct and clean up member account histories when an NSF item has been erroneously applied.
I. Purpose of NSF History Deletion by Account
The primary purpose of this feature is to enable credit union staff to:
- Remove erroneous NSF records: If an item was incorrectly returned as NSF, this function allows for its removal from the member’s account history.
- Maintain accurate account records: Ensures the integrity and accuracy of a member’s financial history within the FLEX system.
II. Accessing NSF History for Deletion
To access a member’s NSF history and initiate the deletion process:
- Navigate to the Member’s Account: Open the specific member’s account in the FLEX system.
- Select Non-Sufficient Funds: From the Inquiry dropdown menu, select the Non-Sufficient Funds option.
- Visual Aid: Refer to the provided screenshot where “Non-Sufficient Funds” is highlighted within the Inquiry menu, indicating its location.
III. NSF History Display and Data Fields
Upon selecting “Non-Sufficient Funds,” a dedicated panel at the bottom of the screen will display all non-sufficient fund items recorded for the member’s account.
Each NSF record presented includes the following key information:
- Subsystem: The system or module from which the transaction originated.
- Suffix: The specific account suffix associated with the NSF event.
- Return Date: The date the item was returned as NSF.
- Process Date: The date the NSF event was processed (may be the same as Return Date or later).
- Reference #: A unique reference number for the NSF item.
- Return/Paid Code: Indicates whether the item was returned (‘R’) or subsequently paid (‘P’).
- Amount: The monetary value of the NSF item.
- Description/Trace Number: A description of the transaction or a trace number for tracking.
