Print Checks
1. Overview
The “Print Checks” module in the FLEX system provides credit unions with the ability to manage and print checks that have been generated through various internal and external sources. This functionality allows for efficient processing of spooled checks, ensuring accurate disbursement.
2. Accessing Print Checks
The “Print Checks” module can be accessed from the FLEX Main Menu via two primary paths:
- Operations
- Teller
Within the Teller menu, “Print Checks” is listed alongside other teller-related functions, such as:
- Reports
- Teller Maintenance
- Bond Redemption
- Calculate Check Digit
- ChexSystems®
- Deluxe Detect
- Envelope/Receipt Printing
- Envelope/Receipt Printing from Import
- G/L Check Disbursement

3. Functionality
The “Print Checks” module facilitates the printing of spooled checks from the following sources:
- Audio Response ($AR=): Checks generated by members through the Audio Response system.
- Certificate Check Posting ($CP=): Checks generated when the Certificate Posting file is executed and the member is configured for check disbursement.
- Internet Banking ($FT=): Checks generated by members via Online Banking.
- Transaction Entry ($TE=): Checks generated by tellers through Transaction Entry that did not print at the time of creation.
4. Print Checks Interface
The “Print Checks” screen provides filtering options and a list of spooled checks.
4.1. Filter Options
Users can refine the list of displayed checks using the following filter criteria:
- Check Source: Select a specific source for spooled checks.
- Blank: Displays checks from all available sources.
- Audio Response: Filters for checks originating from Audio Response.
- Certificate Checks: Filters for checks from Certificate Posting.
- Online Banking: Filters for checks from Internet Banking.
- Transaction Entry: Filters for checks from Transaction Entry.
- Teller: Select a specific Teller ID to view spooled checks issued by that teller.
- Account/Suffix: Displays the account number and suffix associated with the spooled check.
4.2. Check List Columns
The main table displays the following information for each spooled check:
- Account: The account number from which the check is drawn.
- Suffix: The account suffix associated with the check.
- Pay To: The payee information for the spooled check.
- Amount: The monetary value of the spooled check.
- Source: The origin of the check (e.g., AR, CP, FT, TE).
- Teller: The ID of the teller who created the check (if applicable).
4.3. Actions
Users can perform the following actions on the “Print Checks” screen:
- Refresh: Updates the list of spooled checks based on the current filter settings.
- Print:
- Individual Check: Highlight a specific check in the list and click “Print” to print only the selected check.
- Print All: Click “Print All” to print all checks currently displayed in the list.
5. Print Check Detail
The “Print Check Detail” section provides a visual representation of a selected check and additional information.
5.1. Check Image Display
- This section displays an image of the selected check, including:
- Amount
- Date
- Pay To information
- Routing and Account Numbers (e.g., 1⑆1234567891⑆0000)
5.2. Stub Information
- Stub: Displays any messages configured to print on the check stub. This message is configurable under “Printers” in FLEX Configuration, either as a default for all printers or assigned to a specific printer.
5.3. Draft Number
- Draft Number: Displays the unique draft number assigned to the check to be printed.
5.4. Print Check Action
- Print Check: Click this button within the “Print Check Detail” section to print the specific check currently shown on the screen.
