Card Advances
This document provides technical guidance for users of the Card Advances module within the FLEX system. Card Advances is a purchasable module designed to facilitate credit card payment processing directly through FLEX.
1. Overview of Card Advances
- Purpose: Enables credit unions to process credit card payments via the FLEX system.
- Availability: This is a purchasable module. Contact your Sales Representative for pricing and additional information.
- Integration: Once activated and configured, credit card payments can be accepted through the “Transaction Entry/Inquiry” interface.
2. Processing Credit Card Payments
The Card Advances module allows tellers to receive credit card payments for various purposes, including:
- Deposits into member savings accounts.
- Deposits into member checking accounts.
- Loan payments.
2.1. Initiating a Credit Card Transaction
To initiate a credit card payment:
- Navigate to the Transaction Entry/Inquiry screen.
- Enter the following required information:
- Suffix (Sfx): Applicable account suffix.
- Transaction Code (TC): Relevant transaction code.
- Amount: The amount of the transaction.
- OP Code: The configured OP Code specifically for card advances.
- Note: Refer to “Card Advances Configuration in FLEX Academy” for detailed setup information regarding OP Codes.
2.2. Fee Calculation
- Based on the configuration settings for the OP Code used, the system will automatically calculate any applicable fees.
- Example: In the provided example, a percentage of the total transaction amount is used for fee calculation. This setting can be adjusted if necessary.
2.3. Credit Card Information Prompt
After the initial transaction has been posted, the system will prompt the user for credit card information.
- Data Carry-Over: The system will automatically carry over available information from the transaction, including:
- Amount
- Name
- Address
- Identification (e.g., SSN, Driver License details)
- User Verification and Input: The user must:
- Verify the pre-filled information for accuracy.
- Enter any additional required credit card details:
- Credit Card Number
- Expiration Date (MM/DD/YYYY or MM/YYYY format)
- CVV (Card Verification Value)
- Total Amount Display: The “Total Amount” displayed will include the original transaction amount plus any calculated fees.
2.4. Credit Card Sale Screen Details
The “Credit Card Sale” screen (example shown in documentation) includes the following sections:
- Order:
- Order Number: System-generated order number (e.g., 3573904).
- Tax Amount: Field for tax.
- Tax Exempt: Checkbox to mark the transaction as tax exempt.
- Total Amount: The final amount including transaction and fees (e.g., $510.00).
- Credit Card:
- Name: Cardholder’s name (e.g., ANNA M JOHNSON).
- Number: Credit card number input field.
- Expiration: Dropdowns for month and year.
- CVV: CVV input field.
- Swipe…: Button for card swipe functionality (implies card present transaction).
- This is a Card Present transaction: Checkbox to indicate a card present transaction.
- Address:
- PO BOX: Address line (e.g., PO BOX 524).
- City: City (e.g., WOODRUFF).
- State: State (e.g., Utah).
- Zip: Zip code (e.g., 84123).
- Phone: Phone number (e.g., 801-697-5198).
- Email: Email address (e.g., test@cmcflex.com).
- Identification:
- SSN: Social Security Number (e.g., 511-11-1234).
- Type: Type of identification (e.g., Driver License).
- Number: Identification number.
- Exp: Expiration date of identification.
- Voice Auth Capture:
- Voice Authorization Capture: Checkbox.
- Auth Code: Field for authorization code if voice authorization is used.
2.5. Completing the Transaction
- Click the Process button (e.g., “Process $510.00”) to submit the credit card information for processing.
- If the transaction is successful, click OK to finalize and post the transaction within the FLEX system.
- Click Cancel to abort the transaction at any point before processing.
