This document provides technical information regarding the Push Notifications feature within the Flex system. This feature, introduced in version 8.04, consolidates previous eAlerts functionality and expands notification capabilities to include emails, texts, and smartphone notifications.

1. Overview

Push Notifications in the Flex system enable users to receive timely alerts about account activity, balances, loan reminders, and other critical financial events. The system leverages a unified push process to deliver notifications across multiple channels.

2. Key Features and Enhancements (Version 8.04)

  • Consolidation: eAlerts functionality has been merged into the Push Notifications module.
  • Multi-Channel Delivery: Notifications are sent via:
    • Emails
    • Text messages (SMS)
    • Smartphone notifications
  • Customization: Headers, footers, and content text within notifications can be customized.
    • Note: For customization requests, contact PC/Web.
  • Backward Compatibility: All eAlerts configured prior to version 8.04 will continue to be sent through the new push notification method.
  • No Additional Purchase: Credit unions that previously purchased either the eAlerts or Push Notifications module prior to 8.04 do not require an additional purchase.

3. Notification Types

The Flex system supports a comprehensive range of notification types, categorized as follows:

3.1. Account-Specific Notifications

These notifications are configurable per account suffix and device.

3.1.1. Transaction and Pre-authorization Alerts

  • Applicable Accounts: Savings, Checking, and Loans.
  • Trigger: Transaction amount exceeds a user-defined threshold.
  • Configuration: Users can set the specific amount that triggers the notification.

3.1.2. Balance Alerts

  • Applicable Accounts: Checking and Savings.
  • Trigger: Account balance or available balance falls below a user-defined limit.

3.1.3. Savings Goal Notifications

  • Applicable Accounts: Savings.
  • Trigger: A specified savings suffix reaches a user-defined target balance.
  • Configuration: Different savings goal amounts can be set per suffix.

3.1.4. Loan Payment Reminders

  • Applicable Accounts: Loans.
  • Trigger: A loan payment is due.
  • Configuration: Users can set the number of days before the due date to receive the reminder.

3.2. Card-Related Alerts

  • Type: Card activity alerts.
  • Includes:
    • Foreign transactions (if supported by card processor).
    • Card not present transactions (if supported by card processor).

3.3. Security and System Alerts

  • New Device Logged In: Notification when a new device accesses mobiCint.
  • Direct Deposits Received: Alert upon successful receipt of direct deposits.
  • Cleared Check Numbers: Notification for specific draft numbers that have cleared.

3.4. Global Alerts

Global alerts are defined at the system level and are sent to any member who has any alert activated. For global configuration, contact PC/Web.

  • Mailing Address Change
  • ID Change
  • External Transfer Created (ACHO)
  • Invalid Mobile Banking Logon Attempt
  • Mobile Banking Password Change
  • Digital Token Activated: (e.g., Apple Pay, Samsung Pay), if supported by the processor.

4. User Configuration and Management

Upon receiving the updated Flex app (version 8.04 or later), members will be prompted to allow or deny notifications.

  • Initial Prompt: Users will be asked if they want to allow notifications.
  • Post-Prompt Configuration:
    • If a user initially declines, notification settings can be changed later within the App menu.
    • If a user allows notifications, a dedicated “Notifications” menu option will become available for detailed configuration.
  • Device-Specific Settings: Notifications are enabled separately for each device.
  • Account-Specific Settings: Notifications are configured independently for each account.

4.1. Configuration Steps (Illustrative Examples)

The following sections provide examples of typical configuration options available to users within the app:

4.1.1. General Notification Settings

  • Push notifications to this device: Toggle to enable/disable push notifications for the current device.
  • Email Notifications: Toggle to enable/disable email notifications.

4.1.2. Checking Account Notifications

  • Enable Checking: Toggle to activate notifications for checking accounts.
  • Transaction Amount: Set the threshold for transaction alerts (e.g., “$1.00”).
  • Balance Below: Set the threshold for low balance alerts (e.g., “$2.02”).

4.1.3. Savings Account Notifications

  • Enable Savings: Toggle to activate notifications for savings accounts.
  • Transaction Amount: Set the threshold for transaction alerts (e.g., “$3.03”).
  • Balance Below: Set the threshold for low balance alerts (e.g., “$4.25”).
  • Savings Goals:
    • Allows adding new savings goals.
    • Displays existing savings goals with their target amounts (e.g., “1-Base Savings: $55.00”, “3-Savings: $9.50”, “5-Business Savings: $9.50”, “6-Kids Account: $3.50”, “16-CHRISTMAS CLUB: $164.00”).

4.1.4. Loan Account Notifications

  • Enable Loans: Toggle to activate notifications for loan accounts.
  • Transaction Amount: Set the threshold for transaction alerts (e.g., “$1.00”).
  • Enable Loan Reminders: Toggle to activate loan payment reminders.
  • Days Before: Specify how many days before the due date the reminder should be sent (e.g., “7”).

4.1.5. More Options

This section provides additional toggles and settings for various alert types:

  • Credit Union Notifications: Toggle on/off.
  • Card Activity Alerts: Toggle on/off.
  • Direct Deposit Alerts: Toggle on/off.
  • Device Registration Alerts: Toggle on/off.
  • Cleared Check Numbers: Navigates to a sub-menu for configuring specific cleared check number alerts.
  • Alert Balance Type: Allows selection between:
    • Balance
    • Available Balance
